Things to do in Singapore



Singapore is officially known as the ‘Lion City’.  Republic of Singapore got internally self governess in 1959 and became independent nation of South East Asia. Singapore is not only famous for shopping and eating, you can also get a taste of a variety of things like water sports, cycling, arts, drama, parks, museums, zoos, hotels and much more. 


Republic of Singapore is an independent state on the southern tip of Malaya Peninsula. Singapore is an island of 646 sq km which about the size of Chicago. Singapore's strategic position has helped it grow into a major center for trade and became a major international transportation center of Asia.  Singapore port is the world’s second busiest port in term of transportation and refueling.


Singapore has seen many races and cultures as people from different religions like Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism and many more smaller religions have stayed and lived in Singapore since a long time.

Little India

Little India is a large center of Indian community in Singapore. It is most charming and photographers paradise area in Singapore. This little town is a primary attraction to its visitors where you will find the gaily painted shop houses that are icon of Singapore.


Singapore Zoo & Night Safari & Jurong Birdpark

Singapore Zoo also known as Singapore Zoological Garden was opened in the year 1973 with $9 million granted by the Singapore government. It is operated by Wildlife Reserves of Singapore who also manages the Night Safari and Jurong Birdpark.


There is a lot to see in here and would be a best place for children’s and photographers. So if you are in Singapore with your family then you not be missing the Singapore Zoo visit as it gives to see numerous animals and birds living in their natural habitat.

Esplanade

River Merlion

The Merlion is mythical creature bearing a lion’s head and body of fish. The lions head symbolizes the ‘Lion City’ and the fish symbolizes the ancient Temasek or ‘Sea Town’, it is also used as a mascot in Singapore.


Chinese Heritage Museum

Chinese Heritage Museum is located in the center of China Town in Singapore. China Heritage Museum has five floors include a Chinatown Visitor Center  a Dragon Gallery displaying three generations of Chinese dragons, the "Finding Gold" below-ground experience, and Australia’s 200-year Chinese history told through artifacts as well as the story of recent arrivals from all parts of the Asia Pacific region since the 1950s.


Island of Pulau Ubin

Pulau Ubin Island is home of about 200 inhabitants and situated on north east of Singapore which is 10 minutes bumboat away from mainland. A first-time visitor to Pulau Ubin will feel as if he has just stepped back 30 years in time. This contrast is best felt after spending some time on the urban mainland already.

Marina Barrage

The latest Singapore icon built on the mouth of the Marina Channel. The Marina Barrage is part of a flood control scheme to ease flooding in the low-lying areas in the city such as Chinatown, Boat Quay, Jalan Besar and Geylang.

Goregoan Beach of Mumbai


Goregoan is located about 30km north of central Mumbai. Goregaon is named after Mr Gore who was an old resident of Goregaon. After his death, his wife Mrinal Gore, is still working for providing drinking water for his area.

 
This place was originally known as Ghodegaon, which means horse for ‘Ghode’ and village for ‘Goan’ during the rule of Chatrapati Shivaji.
 

There are two trusts which are known as Gore trusts. The famous film studio – Filmstan, Film City, the shooting hub of the Indian film industry is situated in Goregaon (east).

Larnaca is called the Home of Agios Lazarus, the town’s first Bishop. who chose to live his second life there after Jesus raised him from the dead. A church is built in his name on the spot where he remains are said to be found.
Larnaca offer too many visitors their first taste to Cyprus as it is city with the main international airport. Salt lake which is opposite to the airport can be seen clearly with thousands of flamingoes migrating every year.
Larnaca has tremendous to offer to its visitors in form of cafes, restaurants, beach, marina, clubs, pubs and a treat to visit the Lefkara village.

Oroklini Village
Only 20minutes away from Larnaca International Airport is Oroklini Village. It is famous for its sandy beaches.

Saint Lazarus Church
Saint Lazarus church is 9th century church and belongs to Greek Orthodox Church.
The church was built by Emperor Leo VI in the 9th Century.

Lefkara Village
This village is known for its lace and silver handicraft.

 The beautiful mosque is built on her grave overlooking the salt lake.
Lot of pilgrims around the world visits this place during the whole year.

Salt Lake
The main attraction of Larnaca is Salt Lake where nearly 80 species of migratory birds comes down with 80,000 flamingos visiting every year from Jan to Feb. Near the Salt Lake is the holy mosque of Hala Sultan Tekke.

Wreck of Zinobia
The Zinobia was a Swedish Cargo ferry which sank on June 1980 in Larnaca Bay.

Camel Park
Just 15 minutes from Larnaca, Camel Park is located at Mazotos.
Beautiful place for adults were they can sit and relax. Children’s can learn about nature and animals.

Coral Island of Pattaya

Coral Island which covers an area of 4 kms is covered with corals and aquatic animals. Things to do in Daman



Daman is a stunning and gorgeous paradise on earth. The name of DAMAN is traced to the 1st Century A.D.  In the latter part of the XIII Century when the Timmur Invasion expedited the fall of the Sultanate of Delhi.  It was formed out of the dismembered Sultanate and was governed by MLEI MOLUK who governed the Throne of Cambay, under which jurisdiction it fell.

This is a massive fort dating back to 1559 AD. The colossal structure encompass of 30,000 sq mts with 10 bastions and two gateways.

Nani Daman Fort    
Small fort with three bastions and two gateways. This fort has a giant gateway facing the river with a large statue of St. Jerome and two giant human figures.

Jampore Beach
Jampore Beach is situated on the border of Gujarat and a pleasant spot for its visitors. It’s a danger free and best for swimming.  You can enjoy swimming, water sports, pony rides and fishing. 

Jampore beach is a great place for family picnic.

Church of Bom Jesus
This is 17th century church dedicated to Bom Jesus is one of the holy place in Daman. This was built bu Portuguese architects and artisans in ornate and intricate Church building. There are a total of six statues build in traditions of Roman church art and architecture.

Devka Beach
The long short-line at Devka has always fascinated the tourists. The beautiful and well tended amusement park with its musical fountain and kid's corner has become very popular, attracting busloads of tourists every weekend. When the park is illuminated on festive days, it provides an enchanting sight.

House of Bocage
Bocage the 18th century Portuguese poet once lived near the gates of the Fort.

Pargola Garden
This is a place where monument was built in the memory of Portuguese soldiers who fell during the liberation uprising of at Dadar and Nagar Haveli.

Kadiaya Garden

Things to do in Diu



Diu is known as former Portuguese enclave. Diu as a perfect mixture of sun, sand and sea. Diu is currently a union territory of India and considered as a naval and sea port. Merchants of various lands carried on trade here.

Nagoa Beach
An exceptionally beautiful and quiet beach, it has various facilities for water sports. It is also safe for swimming. Plenty of Palm Hoka trees whisper and sway here in the intoxicating sea breeze all day long. The virginity of the beach and serenity of the surroundings give you peace and pleasure beyond expression. 

Jallandhar Shrine   
Jallandhar Shrine is located on a hillock close to the beach. This small shrine crowned with a dome, contains a niche wherein a stone carved face of Jallandhar is seen.

St Paul Church
St Paul’s Church is dedicated to our Lady of Immaculate Conception. Begun in 1601, the church was completed in 1610. The main facade of the church, perhaps the most elaborate of all Portuguese churches in India, is adorned with curiously treated volutes and shell-like motifs, and immediately attracts visitors. The facade has been illuminated by floodlights adding to the evening city glow.

Diu Museum or St Thomas Museum
The old St. Thomas Church has been converted into a museum which houses the antique statues, various stone inscriptions of the earlier rulers, wooden carvings, idols, shadow-clocks and other important artifacts have been collected from various sites and displayed. 

Diu Fort
Diu Fort is an expansive and imposing structure, situated on the coast of the island. This one most visited and famous place for its visitors.

Ghoghla Beach
Ghoghla beach is one of the six beaches in Diu which has all the amenities and facilities for its tourists.

Chakratirath Beach
Chakratirath beach is one of the famous beach of Diu which is located centrally and nearby by to the town in Diu. The hill and the surrounding areas and landscape have been beautifully illuminated by artificial lighting. An open air auditorium on the sea side of the hillock stands nearby. 

Gangeshewar Temple  
Gangeshwar temple is situated around 3km away from Diu town in Fudam village. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, there are five lingas here that are located in the midst of the rocks on the seashore, and are washed by the waves of the sea.

Things to do in Lakshadweep



Lakshadweep is the tiniest Union Territory of India and is archipelago consisting of 12 atolls, 3 reefs and 5 submerged banks. This island comprised of ten inhabited islands, 17 uninhabited islands attached islets, four newly formed islets and 5 submerged reefs. 

The inhabited islands are Kavaratti, Agatti, Amini, Kadmat, Kiltan, Chetlat, Bitra, Andrott, Kalpeni and Minicoy. Bitra is the smallest of all having only a population of 225 persons (Census 1991). The uninhabited island Bangaram has been enumerated during 1991 census operation and has a population of 61 persons.

The main occupation of the people is fishing, coconut cultivation and coir twisting. Tourism is still at development stage and emerging industry. Lakshadweep with its vast lagoon around all the islands has emerged as a water sport destination in the country.

Various Islands on Lakshadweep Island: 

Agatti
Agatti is one of the most beautiful lagoons in Lakshadweep. Agatti can be accessed by ship or by air. A virtual gateway to the islands, Agatti has the only airport in the island. Agatti Island Beach Resorts offers some of the best swimming beaches in the world. The resort has a good beach and lagoon on to its front. The lagoon is huge, shallow, leaving a lot of space for a good swim.

Kavaratti

Kalpeni
A famous tourist destination, Kalpeni offers the tourists with a wonderful opportunity to explore their sporting skills and sportsman spirit through the various water sports.
Kalpeni has the largest lagoon among Lakshadweep islands. The lagoon is relatively shallow and ideal for all kinds of water sports. A peculiar feature of Kalpeni Island is the huge storm bank of coral debris along the eastern and southeastern shoreline. 

The island can accommodate staying tourists in four tourist cottages managed privately by the islanders. The island is part of Coral Reef package. 

Minicoy
Minicoy is the southernmost island of the Lakshadweep. Minicoy is geographically isolated from other islands. Perhaps due to this it is famous for its Maldivian character.

The islander are famous the world over as experienced sea men. A visit to the tuna canning factory, the light house built by the British in 1885, and a long drive through dense coconut groves and winding village roads are part of the tour apart from the pleasures of one of the largest lagoons.

The island is a part of the Coral Reef package with facilities to accommodate staying tourists as well as day tourists. A new twenty-bedded tourist resort has started functioning. The island is included in the Swaying Palms package.

Kadmat
Kadmat is a beautiful shallow lagoon on the west that forms an ideal spot for water sports, there is a narrow lagoon on the east. The best attractions are the long sandy beaches and the sand banks on the southern tip for sunbath.

The major attractions of this island is water sports crafts like kayaks, pedal boats, sailing yachts skiing boats and glass bottomed boats are available on hire. The Scuba Diving Center in the island has become an attraction for water sport fanatics.
