City Attractions:

Marine Drive

C shaped six lane concrete roads along the coast stretching for almost 3 kms. Once known as ‘Queens Necklace’ road starts from Nariman Point to Malabar Hills.

It is also one of Mumbai's busiest roads, an important artery for the heavy suburban traffic heading downtown. Cars whiz continually past the two mile stretch, past huddled lovers, children and babies in perambulators. Like other seafronts, this is where most of south Mumbai comes to breathe in some fresh air.

Chowpatty Beach

Chowpatty Beach is the famous beach of Mumbai. Evening environment is the best and gives a feel of carnival. Kids enjoy the most on ferries, pony rides and monkey shows with fast food items selling on its side.

Aquarium

Taraporewala Aquarium on Marine Drive has a good collection of sea and fresh water fish and other marine life. There is a proposal to convert this into an underwater aquarium, where people can undertake an undersea walk, surrounded by marine life.

Haji Ali

The Haji Ali Dargah is a mosque and tomb place of Pir Haji Ali. This monument has been sentinel to the shores of Mumbai since a long time.

Prince of Wales Museum

This museum is located next to Jehangir Art Gallery in Colaba. So you will get to see the museum and art gallery at one time. The museum was set up in the beginning of the 20th century to honor the visit of King George V's to India, while he was still the Prince of Wales. Built by George Wittet the museum is located in the heart of South Mumbai at a stone's throw distance from the Gateway of India.

The Prince of Wales Museum has also some finest collections featuring ancient Indus Valley artifacts dating back to 2000 BC and also the relics from the Gupta and Maurya Periods. It is also home to some priceless Tibetan and Nepali Art. Those interested in Buddhism would love an entire gallery that is devoted to Buddhist tankha scrolls. The museum houses another gallery on Tibetan bronzes. If intricate paintings interest you then you may marvel the collection of over 2000 miniature paintings from the various art schools of India.

Jehangir Art Gallery

Mumbai's main art gallery, just next to the Prince of Wales Museum, displays changing exhibits by well-known Indian artists. Nehru Planetarium

Nehru Planetarium is housed in an astounding cylindrical shaped building that also features art gallery, restaurant, library, cultural center and a 14-gallery exhibit called Discovery of India. Nehru Planetarium is located at Worli.

Close to Nehru Planetarium is Nehru Science Center, venue of numerous international trade fairs and local exhibitions, which also worth visiting once.

Gateway of India

The Gateway of India is one of the distinguishing landmarks of Mumbai. Set at the tip of the reclaimed land of the Apollo Bunder, it adjoins the Mumbai Harbor and the Arabian Sea in the Colaba area of the city. The monument marks the area as one of India’s major ports and as a principle point where many visitors originally arrived in India.

Its design is a combination of both Hindu and Muslim architectural styles, the arch are in Muslim style while the decorations are in Hindu style. The Gateway is built from yellow basalt and reinforced concrete. The stone was locally obtained, and the perforated screens were brought from Gwalior.

Juhu Beach

Bollywood’s favorite location and frequently visited beaches in India. The beach is lined with luxury hotels, apartment in the south and many five star hotels are prevalent in this area. The beach is bound in the north by Versova beach which is also a beautiful resort.
