Lonavala is a beautiful city located 90kms from Mumbai and 70kms from Pune. It a nature’s gift with beautiful valleys, hills, waterfalls, streams, greenery, dams and pleasant climate. Best time to visit Lonavala would be rainy season starting from May to Aug.

Small place with lots of sightseeing places around that you would like to explore. Lonavala was located by Sir Elphinstone in 1871, the governor of Bombay Presidency. Lonavala is considered as a romantic gateway from busy city lives. It provides views of Deccan plateau on one side and Konkan coast on the other side which is amazing and breadth taking view.

City Attractions:

Karla Caves

Karla Caves are centuries old caves and have the largest collection of Chaityas. Beautiful carved Chaityas and Viharas take you on a journey back in time and also narrating stories of the past.

Valvan Lake

2 kms away from Lonavala there is a garden on the foot hills of Valvan dam which is very popular among visitors.This dam was constructed on Valvan lake and provides water to nearby hydroelectric plant. It is famous for its scenic beauty surrounding the lake.

Bhaja Caves

Bhaja Caves are similar to Karla Caves and are located close by. Bhaja Caves share the similar architectural designs as Karla Caves.

Bushy Dam

Bushy dam is one of the amazing and natural picnic spot in Lonavala. Dam is located at the backdrop of scenic hill terrains and green environments which adds to its beauty. Recommended to visit this dam during rainy season only.

Lohagad Fort

This fort is famous and knows as trekking destination since a long time.

Lot of trekkers from Pune and Mumbai come down every week as it is easy to trek and get a view of greenery.

Pawna Lake

This is an artificial lake formed due to building of Pawna dam across Pawna river. Row and motor boating facilities are provided at Pawna lake due which it attracts a lot of tourists.

Tikona Fort

This fort is very close to Pawna dam and can be easily trekked. This one is easy to climb and can be a good for beginners.

Tungarli Lake

This one too is an artificial reservoir and supplies water to Lonavala city. Tungarli dam is build across Tungarli lake in the year 1930. You can view celebrity bungalows and entire lonavala city from the top of the cliff.

Ryewood Park

Botanical garden which was later converted into a park. Ryewood Park is a weekend hangout place for many families. Park is surrounded by various trees which are decade old and still standing tall and firm.

Tiger’s Leap

Tiger’s leap is a cliff top with a absolute drop of over 650 meters which gives a excellent view of the valley to tourists.

Lion’s Point

The view from Lion’s point is spectacular and panoramic. Excellent view of valley and waterfalls. Getting to the edge of the cliff is most adventurous and thrilling part of the trip.

Celebrity Wax Museum

This Wax Museum was started by Sunil Kandaloor a wax artist from Kerala. Wax statues of politicians, social workers, celebrities and spiritual leaders are available in the wax museum.
