Suvarnaganesh Temple

The Dead Sea or Salt Lake

 

Dead Sea is fed by the Jordan River. There is no outflow and the exceptionally high rate of evaporation produces large quantities of minerals like calcium, iodine, saline, potassium, and bromide. These are extracted and exported throughout the world for use in medicine, agriculture and industry.

There are no fishes or any kind of swimming, squirming creatures living in the water. However, there are several types of bacteria and one type of algae that have adapted to harsh life in the waters of the Dead Sea. Floating is a novelty that makes visiting the Dead Sea a kick, but most visitors come for the therapeutic value of the mud and salt water. People with skin disorders such as psoriasis and ailments such as arthritis have found relief from treatments using the Sea's natural resources.

 

The Dead Sea is actually shrinking. The southern end is now fed by a canal maintained by the Dead Sea Works, a company that converts the Sea's raw materials, particularly phosphates, into commercial products.

 

Some facts about Dead Sea (Salt Lake):  

1.       The Dead Sea isn’t actually a sea at all! The Dead Sea is a saltwater lake.

2.     The Sea is 1,400 feet (430 m.) deep.

3.     The Dead Sea (The Salt Sea) is the lowest place on earth, roughly 1,300 feet (400 meters) below sea level.

4.     It is 34 miles (55 km.) long and varies between 11 miles (18 km.) and 2 miles (3 km.) in width.

5.     There is no marine life in the Dead Sea. The high mineral and salt content of the waters make it impossible for fish or plants to live.

6.     The Dead Sea is the second saltiest body of water in the world, with a salt content of 33%.

7.     Cleopatra loved the Dead Sea so much that she ordered that cosmetic factories and resorts be built along its shores.

8.     You can lay on the surface of the water without even trying to float. The high salt content makes you buoyant.

9.     Water flows into the Dead Sea from streams and rivers, but does not flow out.

10.  Dead Sea salt is super bitter and not at all like table salt.

11.    The Dead Sea is filled with minerals including calcium, iodine, saline, potassium, and bromide.

12.  The minerals in the Dead Sea all naturally occur within our bodies.

Khed Shivapur - Kamar Ali Darvesh

Hajrat Kamar Ali Darvesh Dargah is located around 16 kms away from Pune city on the Pune - Satara Road. This Dargah is about 700 years old and beautifully built with white marble and carved with Quranic text all around. 
 
The main attraction of this Dargah is two stones that are kept at the Dargah. No single person can lift the stone bare handed from the ground. This stone has to be lifted up with the help of the tips of the index finger. People lifting this stone voiced in unison the name of the saint. People hold the 1st syllable for as long as possible and that too without running a breath. They say Kamar Ali Darvesh the giant rock suddenly lifts up and remains there till the partaker's runs of the breath.
 

People of all caste and religion come down to this place without any barrier or fear. Women are not allowed to go inside the Dargah particularly because Kamar Ali Darvesh was unmarried. People come down with their wishes and it is considered that their wishes would be fulfilled by Hazrat Kamar Ali Darvesh. 
 

Khed Shivapur is very close and can be easily reached from Pune. It can be visited if you are planning to go to Panchgani or Mahableshwar from Pune.

Burj Khalifa Fountain

Burj Khalifa the tallest building in the world plays music with fountain shows every 30 minutes in front of the tower. At a cost of 800 million UAE Dinars, this was designed by California based company called WET Design was earlier named as Burj Dubai. Burj Khalifa was delayed twice and finally inaugurated on May 2009.

Burj Khalifa fountain can shoot water up to a height of 150 meters. It is illuminated by 6600 lights and 50 colored projectors, accompanied by classical Arabic, English and Hindi music. Music Performance takes place at every 30 minutes from 6pm to 10pm on weekdays and from 6pm to 10pm on weekends (weekends are Friday and Saturday).

The Separation Wall in Israel

 

The Separation Wall also known as ‘Security Fence’ or ‘Security Wall’ along the Green Line. It was built for a sole purpose to keep in control the entry of Palestinian residents into Israel. Separation Wall is not only built in concrete but also includes electrified fencing, two meter deep trenches, roads for patrol vehicles, electric ground sensors, video cameras, sniper towers and razor wires. 
 
The Wall built on Green Line between West Bank and Israel is 760 kms in length and 25 feet in height. It is planned to have the wall four times long and twice as high as Berlin Wall.

In Jerusalem, the barrier does not always separate Israelis from the Palestinians, but also separates Palestinians from Palestinians. The Wall is not constructed on the Green Line between Israel and the West Bank. Close to 90% of the route of the wall is on Palestinian land inside the West Bank, encircling Palestinian towns and villages and cutting off communities and families from each other, separating farmers from their land and Palestinians from their places of work and education and health care facilities and other essential services.

The Separation Wall is built on occupied territory which violates International Humanitarian Law, a majority of Israeli settlements on the occupied territory that live and are settled illegally. It has affected the Palestinians in different ways like loss of land, road barriers, more Israel checkpoints, limited access to agricultural lands, water and medical facilities.

The Wailing Wall of Jerusalem

 

 

Jerusalem is the capital city of Israel and also a holy city for the Judaism, Muslims and Christianity. Jerusalem is very important city to Christianity as Jesus Christ lived and died here. Israel refer Jerusalem as the country’s ‘undivided capital’ but the international community has rejected the annexation as illegal and treat East Jerusalem as Palestinian Territory which is held by Israel under military control. The Wailing Wall in Jerusalem is all that remains of the biblical temple of Solomon, destroyed by the ancient Romans. Ever since, the site has drawn crowds of the faithful, many of whom press small slips of paper containing prayers into the cracks of this venerable wall.

 
 
The Wailing Wall in Jerusalem stands on a hallowed site. It is the last vestige of the great ancient Jewish temples once located in Jerusalem. In 70 A.D. Roman emperor Titus broke through the wall and burned and pillaged the temple. For the Romans, the event was a military coup, back home in Rome; the Romans depicted the spoils of the temple being paraded triumphantly through the streets on the carved reliefs on the Arch of Titus. For the Jews however, the destruction of the temple was one of the greatest tragedies of their history. The Wailing Wall 50 foot high, which is probably one of the ancient retaining wall of the temple, is situated on the western side of the Temple Mount. Today, the Wailing Wall is their most holy site.
 

 
The faithful stands before it to lament the loss of the temple and to draw close to the Holy of Holies, an inner room of the temple now occupied by a mosque. The tradition of praying at the Wall began between 200 A.D and 300 A.D. The monument came to be called the Wailing Wall due to the many tears shed before it as a symbol of loss, struggle, hope and freedom.
